Past Classes

The following are classes that have been taught and could be again.  Let me know if you have interest, and I will try to offer them at a time that works for you.

FETCHING FINGERLESS MITTENS

fetching

These mittens (from Knitty.com) are a must-have for every hipster lucky enough to enjoy Texas winters.   For those of you who’ve never knit, start with my hat class.  For those of you who have successfully knit and purled with relative ease, come learn cables and double-pointed needles!  During this 2-part class, we will complete one of your mittens and you will be well equipped to finish the other one on your own.

$50 for both classes.

Supplies:  Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran – 1 skein (This is enough in most cases for both mittens.  If you are a loose knitter or are worried you might not have enough, go ahead and buy two skeins and make another pair if you don’t need it!)  1 set #6 double point needles, yarn darning needle.  Please email me with supply questions.

NEEDLE FELTING IS SO FUN

You can turn wool into just about anything, I am convinced.  Needle felting is a wonderful, free-form art that is underappreciated, even unheard-of!  Using wool roving and a felting needle you can create any three-dimensional object imaginable.  No sewing involved, just poking wool with a needle…you can do that!

$30 includes supplies to use and take home.  Class limited to 6 people.

EMBROIDERED CLOTH NAPKINS

embroidered napkins

Come learn the basics of hand embroidery and create beautiful, one-of-a-kind linens perfect for the lunchbox or dinner table.  Make a set for a perfect Christmas gift!  No previous sewing experience needed.  I will have patterns for you or bring a simple image you like and we can make an iron-on transfer.

$30 includes enough fabric for 2 napkins, an embroidery hoop for you to take home, embroidery floss and needle.  Class limited to 6 people.

AFTER SCHOOL KIDS SEWING

Is your crafty kid itching for inspiration?  This series of after-school classes may be just what they’ve been waiting for!  We will walk through the basics of hand and machine sewing and safety, learn basic terms and proper techniques for a quality product, learn to read simple patterns, thread our machines and start creating!  Projects might include pillows, plushies (stuffed toys), bags and clothing, depending on interest. Bring your own machine (recommended), or use one of mine for a $5 fee.  Healthy snack provided.  Pick-up from AWS possible if needed.  4th – 8th graders (this is flexible.)

$85 per session.  Class limited to 4 people.

Supplies to be announced once class interest is determined.
