You can turn wool into just about anything, I am convinced.  Needle felting is a wonderful, free-form art that is underappreciated, even unheard-of!  Using wool roving and a felting needle you can create any three-dimensional object imaginable.  No sewing involved, just poking wool with a needle…you can do that!

Knitting Hats in the Round

What a perfect time of the year to learn to knit hats!  My very first knitting project was a hat for my daughter, knit on circular needles.  Years later, hats are still some of my favorite things to knit.  They offer a simple introduction to knitting,  a great “mindless” project to keep with you and pick up in your downtime though out the day,  and a fantastic practical gift!   During this two part class, we will learn the basics of casting on and knitting in the round.  You will then knit the bulk of your hat during the week and come back to learn to decrease and finish your hat!

$45 includes both classes.  Class limited to 6 people.

Supplies:  Approximately 200 yards worsted weight yarn.  A soft, washable merino wool works well. One size  US 8  16″ circular needles,  one set US 8 double-pointed needles, stitch markers, yarn darning needle.  Please email me with supply questions.

If you’ve been meaning to pull your mom’s old sewing machine out of the closet and learn to sew but didn’t know where to start, this is the class for you!  During this 2.5 hour crash course you will learn basic sewing terms, how to thread and use your machine, and a few practical applications for your new skills such as hemming and basic mending.  Please plan to drop off your machine (with bobbin) a few days before class so that I can take a look at it and be prepared to help you.

$30 includes supplies.  Class is limited to 4 people.

After completion of this class, you will be ready for the Advanced Beginner’s Machine Sewing Class.

Got the basics down and know how to use your machine?  Ready to move on to reading patterns and creating projects?  This is the class for you.  During this two-part class we will cover proper sewing techniques for quality work, how to read sewing patterns, how to lay out and cut fabric, how to identify the right fabrics for your project, and how to trouble-shoot when your sewing machine misbehaves.  Also learn buttonhole making and zippers!  We will create a market bag together using your newfound skills!  Bring your own machine with bobbin (recommended) or rent one of mine for a $5 fee.

$60 includes both classes.  Class limited to 4 people.

Supply list provided upon registration.
